well if i catch you crying in your room again, i will coax you out with a ballad
i bought two tickets to the exhibit. i know it's gray outside but there's so much color in it
stuck in place with everything at stake
we break conventions, and everything we make i take for granted as if it could be substituted for a written line
i haven't heard from you in such a long time

elwyn station: the flood lights are on––orange in hue
waiting for you to pull in. we had a funeral, calm and collected, a flower per thing neglected, we threw in a pile. history open-ended, chapters extended, plot-lines edited, denouement satisfies both parties
don't get ahead of yourself. one thing dies, another blooms, and then you learn to love someone else. back in the heat, where the story's as it seems, what's this closure you seek?
we recited the eulogy as the midnight train pulled away

Sentimental Drug

truth––the improbable truth closes in; fighting demons from scenes stuck within. a motion to recreate what was once but won't be again
every bed becomes a deathbed. feel like I'm in suspended animation
and you will let it kill you, the sentimental drug

i'm surprised to be content. normally its pessimism. carefully calibrated caution. why can't i just take a walk without a thousand things surfacing, breaking down on me?
sometimes i find myself asking myself, "can you help?"
